Environmental information setup
Uisce can display the environmental information you provide — recycling and packaging notes, EPR or WEEE registration details, battery or materials disclosures, disposal instructions. It cannot verify any of it, substantiate a green claim, or confirm that you've met a producer-responsibility obligation. The theme shows what you supply; the truth of it is yours.
Not legal or environmental advice. This page explains how to surface environmental information and where the theme stops.
Who does what
| Owns | In practice | |
|---|---|---|
| The theme (Uisce) | Display | Renders the recycling, packaging, EPR/WEEE, and disposal text you enter |
| Shopify admin | Storage | Product fields, metafields, and policy pages |
| You + your advisers | Accuracy & obligations | Correct disclosures, EPR/WEEE registration, packaging duties, substantiating any claim |
Surfacing environmental information today
Use the surfaces the theme already ships — the same blocks that carry safety information:
| Surface | Good for |
|---|---|
| Custom Liquid block | EPR/WEEE registration numbers, a producer line, or a metafield-driven disclosure |
| Accordion / collapsible tab | A tidy "Recycling & disposal" or "Packaging" section |
| Description / Rich text | Short materials or disposal notes inline |
For structured per-product data (e.g., a registration number that varies by product), define your own product metafields in Settings → Custom data → Products and read them in a Custom Liquid block — the pre-order metafield pattern applies here too.
Keep green claims substantiated
Environmental claims are a regulated, scrutinised area. "Recyclable where facilities exist" is a factual disclosure; "100% eco-friendly" and "carbon neutral" are claims you must be able to substantiate — and a theme can't substantiate anything. Show specifics you can back, not vague virtue.
Safe vs. unsafe wording
From storefront wording guardrails:
- ✅ "Recycling and packaging information provided by the merchant" · "EPR/registration details shown where applicable" · "Materials and disposal notes as supplied."
- ❌ "100% eco-friendly" · "Carbon neutral" (without substantiation) · "Fully EPR compliant, handled automatically" · "Sustainable, guaranteed."

What this page is — and is not
This explains how to display environmental information and where the theme's role ends. It is not legal or environmental advice, and it does not validate or substantiate any disclosure or claim. The theme renders what you provide; the accuracy of your disclosures and any producer-responsibility obligation remain yours. Confirm them with a professional where it matters.
